What was the hype for Captain Phasma? (possible spoilers!)
What was all the hype behind this tin-plated Stormtrooper? Captain Phasma is cool looking but what did she do in the movie? I originally thought the design was cool. I kind of wanted one of those extra-large figures. This must be a bad-ass character, right? If I had bought one of those figures, I would have ended up hating it because the character was minimally nothing in the movie.
Her main part was when she was under threat and she gave away everything she knew. Then, presumably, she was thrown into a trash compactor. Is that cool? Because if it is, I missed it.
Oh, and to tell Finn, "Report for re-conditioning" or whatever she said. Yeah, that sure is menacing.
It wasn't even originally a female character. There was apparently internet backlash over a lack of female characters and they just turned her female. Not that it mattered in the slightest.
And according to the Star Wars wiki, her name was just derived from the silver armor. It reminded Abrams of the silver sphere from the movie Phantasm and they just went with that.
