The "Robert P. Ferguson" was the first ever spacefaring warship built byt the Terran Alliance. She was built to deal with what was percieved as the primary space bound threat at the time, stray stellar matter, IE asteroids, comets, and meteors. Since the destruction of Denver, Fort Collins, and Colorado Springs but asteroid BE-127 in 2008, a space bound defensive platform was the primary focus of technology companies as the "Holy Grail" of contracts. Even so, it wasn't until 2098 that the "Robert P.", as it is known to it's crew, was launched, as the Planetary Defense Grid, also created by Star Builders, was felt to be suitible enough. That is, until the destruction of Buenos Ares in 2075 by comet Burnholdt-Rheiner.
